TLDR:
- Firstly, recognize that success looks differently for you, and everybody else
- Akin to a snake, you have to shed your skin and become an entirely new person during your journey, doing things you never thought you’d do.
- The hungrier you are, you’ll find that you’re all the more willing to dive deep into domains you probably never even imagined of stepping foot in your life.
- What that looks like serves as an extension of getting your hands dirty. Do things you never thought you’d do that you know you have to for the purpose of achieving your desired outcome
Seeing the other side of the desired outcome
Like millions of other people these days, I have found myself on a journey to success for quite some time now, namely the finish line of the desired outcome.
As I’ve traversed the path, what I have learned is that achieving a desired outcome translates to achieving your version of success. In no way, shape, or form does success look exactly the same for everybody inhabiting this world, for how can we forget that all human beings are in no way, shape, or form the same?
To achieve that success, what I’ve also learned is that like a snake, you have to shed your skin and become an entirely new person in the process, one you never would’ve even imagined you could before even thinking of embarking on such a journey, let alone when you initially began.
Simply put, it means to do things you never thought you’d ever do.
You may think you won’t ever do it no matter what, but what I’ve personally found is that the hungrier I am, the more willing I am to dive deep into domains I never even imagined I’d ever set foot in my life.
For me, what it’s looked like thus far is consuming various mediums of reading such as long-form articles, research papers, and books, watching in-depth video essays on certain business topics, and listening to podcasts when driving.
Two years ago, I never even imagined I’d find myself willingly reading a book, but when I was working on a certain creative project that took about a year to bring to life, I realized that if I wanted it to be the best possible version I had in mind, I had to read those certain books brought to my attention.
As for podcasting, it’s only been a few months since I began listening to them intensely. Otherwise, I was always under the notion that those memes you come across every now and then of what podcasts “are like” were an accurate representation, for anyone could start their own.
Certainly, it’s true, but like anything, it’s all about picking and choosing who you listen to that genuinely have a high degree of authority in what they do.
All of this is essentially an extension of getting your hands dirty. If you want to achieve success in things you truly want to do and satiate your soul, then prepare for grimy hands regularly.
