TLDR:
- Not every product you devise to address a pain point has to be revolutionary that the world has never seen before.
- Human beings will experience pain points in every possible aspect you can think of, for such is the psyche of the mind, and to address such wants can still reap just as much dividends as providing an immediate solution to a pressing problem
Pain points can be virtually anything. Here’s how
Traditionally, business content creators such as ourselves will say that one of the best ways to formulate an idea for a product is to identify the biggest pain points customers are currently facing and solve that.
But essentially, this is no more than a static definition, in that the product has to be something groundbreaking that significantly enhances the quality of their life.
However, this doesn’t always have to be the case.
Though the quickest way to success in this regard would be painkillers, that being an immediate solution to a pressing problem, be it commoditized or de-commoditized (or generalized or niched to the max), pain points can be addressed in every possible aspect of life you can think of.
Soft drinks like Coca-Cola are immensely popular globally but aren’t solving anything. Yet, there’ll always be an inclination towards a high volume of demand for a refreshing beverage.
To have certain forms of entertainment such as video games or movies and shows to binge on Netflix isn’t necessarily solving an acute problem, but it still enhances the quality of one’s life, which is why demand for any medium will never go away.
And that is why such things will always be present in the market.
Remember, we human beings are very complex creatures. Not every dilemma one comes across in life is a pressing problem, they come packaged in all sorts of shapes and forms. So with that token, no matter where you look, pain points are present everywhere, ones that though aren’t the need of the hour to address, can still be cashed in handsomely to solve.
