Scream it to Everyone: The power of distribution

TLDR:

  • Distribution matters as much if not more than the quality of what you’re selling. If you have no distribution power, then how can you ever expect to eventually see success in the first place?

Screaming your way out of the echo chamber with distribution

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.”

Your goal should be for your product or service to be synonymous with this iconic proverb in a way.

It all comes down to the power of distribution.

It matters as much if not more than the quality of what you’re selling, for if you have zero distribution power, how will your target demographic ever come across it in the first place?

To begin increasing your distribution power is literally as easy as 1 2 3: spread the word on any platform that comes to your mind.

And to further build and elevate the art of spreading the word, literally talk to anyone who is willing to listen, for at the end of the day, irrespective of whatever sector of business you’re in, it’s all a numbers game.

And beyond talking to anyone, eventually, begin reaching out to people who are relevant in the niche you’ve set up camp, be it influencers, content creators, writers, or whoever they may be.

If you reach out to 100 such people, the odds are only 1 at the very least would follow up, and for you, that’s the jackpot. Your distribution power is probably about to increase substantially and you don’t even realize it.

But even if 1 out of the 100 people you reach out to don’t respond, try another 100 or so on, for you’ll eventually stumble upon that lucky number, like what 10 is to Messi.

In essence, what it boils down to is consistency in order to attain success in any business endeavor. Whatever aspect of your business it is, if you’re not consistent enough in putting the reps in, your entire business as a whole may collapse like a house of cards.

This principle is most applicable to distribution. Don’t dread talking about your product or service to every person you come across relevant to your niche and target demographic. As long as you’re not annoying about it, what’s the worst that could happen?

If you don’t scream it to everyone, whatever you’re selling is as good as being stuck in the deep abyss, the nether realm that no human being can ever reach.

“One brings two, two brings four, and so on”

Add sales next to each number in that quote. If you don’t ever scream and play the long game in building your distribution power, you won’t ever see the light of day of your first sale, let alone the future sales to come.

Word-of-mouth is a powerful thing, for both the owner and the customer. If you’re not screaming your product or service from the top of your lungs to your mouth, then you’ve already lost the game.
